I worked as a market researcher and advertising account director across retail and FMCG clients for over 10 years, before going it alone with my creative partner and establishing Ideaology. Our clients have consistent access to my skill of positioning brands and delivering to their expectations. Through the years I have come to know the importance of disciplined planning, organizing motivating creative workflows and controlling client budgets. I have deep respect for marketing and advertising from the creative process through to delivery against objectives. Internally I lead by example and enjoy developing fresh talent. Our clients understand that my experience over three decades of managing client relationships and expectations, coupled with project management and delivery, are cornerstones of our business culture.
In my role as Creative Director of Ideaology, I bring extensive skills in Graphic Design and below-the-line advertising. Plus, above-the-line experience as an Art Director. I have gained experience working for both large international affiliated advertising agencies and smaller design agencies. My appreciation and understanding of the importance of design covers many fields. These include logo and corporate identity development, packaging, branding and general graphic design. I enjoy looking at the overall picture, am strong on concept development and driven by the Big Idea. I guide clients in protecting their design IP and adhere to strict design principals. Whilst my key focus covers all aspects of design, I frequently contribute to client marketing, promotions and through-the line advertising challenges. I am known internally and amongst clients, as the go-to person for ideas. Working on local and international brands in a career spanning more than 30 years has satisfied my passion for creativity and led to a number of awards, including 2 Loeries. I have been invited to judge the Loerie Promotional Campaigns Award and was proud to represent South Africa as judge of the Cannes Design and Direct Marketing Award category. I manage the design and branding for a number of long standing clients and oversee the development and motivation of a team of talented graphic designers.
My skills have been honed and experienced gained in working across the Marketing and Communications sector for many years. My respect for media as a powerful influencer of change, and my belief in the power of clear and inclusive communication guide my career path. Along the way, I have funded and managed start-ups negotiated countless business deals and concluded the sale of two of my companies to JSE listed media groups. I enjoy sharing my strategic marketing and business experience in my dealings with Ideaology and am actively involved in my 18 year old Public Relations Company Stone Soup South Africa. Over countless years I have developed business acumen, a strong work ethic and instinctive ability to see a bigger and better picture, no matter what the challenges are. Sharing of these attributes with clients and staff within Stone Soup, is both motivating and fulfilling.
